STEAK SAUCE – SCRUMPTIOUS

Pour on the Steak Sauce

 

12 large tomatoes, chopped and skinned

4 med cucumbers, skin and slice paper thin

Or 2 English cucumbers

6 onions, chopped

½ cup pickling salt

2 cups white vinegar

4 ½ cups white sugar

½  teaspoon curry

½ teaspoon turmeric

½ teaspoon celery seed

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

3 tablespoons flour

In a large crock, put pickling salt over tomatoes, cucumbers and onions and leave overnight.

Drain off salty fluid.

Bring to a boil vinegar, sugar, curry, turmeric, celery seed and cayenne.

Add vegetables and simmer until cucumbers are clear. Make paste of some of the liquid and the flour.

Stir in and cook a few minutes longer. Bottle in sterilized containers and seal.

Beautiful Meat Loaf

Meat loafs with steak sauce are popular dishes traditionally. They are easy to make and become squire meals which are good for dinner. Usually served with mashed potatoes these have been handed down from generations to generation. Instead of the good old meat loaf, now the house wives have devised new steak sauce recipes to go along with it to prepare tasty dishes. They use different kinds of spices and flavors to make them to have different kind of tastes and aroma. The present day steak sauces carry green pepper and onion to enhance the taste. Instead of the traditional tomato ketchup, they use these steak sauces to serve the steaks these days. The normal steak sauce recipes carry tomato ketchup, chopped onions, garlic, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce and water as the ingredients. When you make it, all the ingredients are combined in a pan simmered in an open pan until it gets the right consistency. Stirring is necessary occasionally. The sauce should be strained to remove the garlic and the onions. When left in the fridge, you can serve it at any time. When you make the meat loaf, the steak sauce is combined with the meat loaf with other ingredients such as eggs, bread crumbs, milk, chopped onions and bell pepper. Finally it is baked in the oven at 350°C for one hour. When the loaf is brown in color and firm to the touch, take it out and leave for five to ten minutes for cooling. Now your meal is ready. For this, you have a number of steak sauce recipes to choose from. Also when you serve it, mashed potatoes with pepper will make a good combination. Now you have prepared the meat and the steak sauce, may be you need a change next time. Then the best is to go for a vegetable sauce. A pesto sauce recipe is a good choice for you. Unlike the steak sauce recipes, these are seasonal. The reason is that their main ingredient basil is there in abundance during summer. Also you can buy it in any farm shop for a fraction of the price they cost you during the winter. They are fresh with their normal aroma. There are many varieties of this sauce too. Pesto sauce is served with a variety of food such as pizza, fish and pasta. They are all good food and carry lesser volumes of fat than the steaks.
